[Cc: all guild nominees]

Doug,

As guild treasurer, one of the sacred responsibilities I see you having has to do with instructing in the principles of free-will consecration and facilitating the administration of consecrated funds.

I do not believe that the typical LDS-taught model is ideal. It is too much like "follow the prophet," shifting responsibility from the individual to another person. You know I love the motto, "Would that all the Lord's people were prophets." This principle carries over into consecration well.

I believe that each person needs to be responsible for how he/she disburses their resources, and that the LDS model of giving all excess to one person who then dispenses to those in need is a lower program.

We present a better model in our "consecration" document, but still I'm sure there can be improvements made on that as further revelation or insight is given to refine it.

The bottom line is that we need to present an alternative to socialism to the world.

In my opinion, if done right, your position could be one of the most important on the planet.

As I write this, I get the feeling that we are going to see a lot of change and evolution in our present concepts, and that we need to be open to such changes.

We are barely seeing the tip of the iceberg, but we are on the right track just by seeking to actually implement something along these lines.

The Lord will guild our steps.

We need to pray for the right individuals and information to come to us.

Again, I feel the need to emphasize that your responsibility is anything but mundane. It is very sacred.

I feel to also invoke a blessing on you that you may be able to be open to the angelic guidance that will come as you seek to fulfill this calling faithfully.

Many millions of lives will be blessed because of it, temporally and spiritually.

We're here to support you.

I'm astonished as how strongly I feel as I write this to you. There is a feeling of deep destiny.

God bless you, Doug, as you carry out this responsibility in concert with many many other individuals who will both instruct and assist you.

Most of all, be humble as you press forward in this. Pride is an antithesis attribute of those who do the work of the Lord, which this is.

Sincerely, your brother in Christ,

Sterling D. Allan
