Joel Skousen Comments on CNPCNP is not very bold; really only a warmed-over Republican elitist group. (Posted with permission) From: "Joel Skousen" <jskousen@qwest.net> Re: CNP: It was started back in the mid-80s while I was Chairman of the Conservative National Committee. Mine was a hard-line, no compromise strategy and organization, theirs was a competing soft-line, 'get along with the big boys' strategy and organization--and they won out, naturally. I've been to a few of their meetings--nothing sinister, just fairly dull, moderate Republican type conservatives trying to influence government policy in a moderate way. That is what makes them rather dull--no real effective strategies and no real recognition of the root cause: the secret combination of power that controls both Republicans and Democrats. They are not conspiratorial nor really secretive--just a little elitist. The amount they charge for membership ($$$$) each year is meant to keep the membership in the wealthy bracket--for those that like the feeling of being with conservative Republican style movers and shakers--what few there are left now, even of the moderate variety. Hard liners like Howie Phillips is a member, but has lost interest in the CNP, other than to be with some who used to support him--until he broke with the Republicans. He has little influence now there. Our cause would not be of interest to them either--too ideological, and too uncompromising. Joel Skousen |
