RSICC Usernames & Passwords

This document is directed to RSICC guild members.

There are two sets of usernames and passwords you will need to have to access the various features of this guild.

I. One set is to access the private portions of the guild website at www.remnantsaints.com.  They are the username and password you were given a the time the announcement of your nomination to the guild was sent to you.  If you have forgotten where you filed that, or if you inadvertently deleted that message, we would be glad to resend it to you.

Make sure you do not include any spaces before or after the username and password when you enter them.  I select "yes" when Internet Explorer asks me if I wants it to remember my username and password for future sessions.  That way, when ever I go to enter the private portion of the site, when the window opens prompting for the username and password, they are already filled in for me, and I just hit "enter."

II. The other guild features that requires a username and password are the various YahooGroups lists we use for various communications and administrative functions.  The most important one is rs_admin.   Your YahooGroups account is not the same username and password as that used in the guild website.

It is a username and password you establish with YahooGroups. We cannot set it for you, or change it, or tell you what it is.  That is between you and YahooGroups, which is a service we use because of its many features.

YahooGroups is quite straight forward in walking you through that process if you've not already done it.

Here is a little tutorial in seeing if you already have a membership (free) with them.

  1. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rs_admin/messages
  2. When you try to access it, if you are not logged into your account, you will get an error message saying you don't have access to this group. That is not because you are not authorized to get in, because as a guild member, you are subscribed to this list and have full rights to access its various features.  The error message is because you either do not yet have an account with YahooGroups, or because you are not logged in, or because your existing account is not linked to this particular address that I signed you up under.
  3. Along with the error message, you will see somewhere on the page where it says "log in" or "sign in."  Click on that.
  4. If you have an account already, you enter your username and password that you have established with YahooGroups.
    1. If you've forgotten it, then have them send you a reminder message. There will be a link for that.
    2. When you get the reminder message in your email box, return to the YahooGroups website and enter that information.  You should then be set to go.
    3. If that doesn't work, YahooGroups will have a link you can click on to associate your account with the existing group and email address that is singed up with this account.
  5. If you have not already established an account, then there will be a link to click on to establish an account.  Just follow the steps they give you, and you should then be ready to go.

Now you can access the various features available to you such as the polls, the list of other members on the list, a list of archive messages, the ability to change your email receiving options, the ability to add other email addresses to your account, the ability to post messages to the list through the website, etc.

Hope that helps.

Let me know if I need to explain anything further, or if you still run into a snag.
